We’re back on board and stitching full steam ahead!

This past Sunday, we hosted Lesson Two of Halloween Cruise Mayhem, one of our Mystery Classes featuring the wildly detailed (and wildly fun) canvas by Rebecca Wood. And yes, it’s BIG — 21 x 27 stretcher bars big — but we’re taking it in bite-sized, totally do-able chunks. Promise!

What did we do in Lesson Two?

This time, we turned our attention to the ship itself, bringing it to life with all kinds of detail and texture:

• The sail now has that perfect aged-and-weathered look — like it’s seen a few too many ghostly gales.

  

• The hull is rich with dimension and grit (don’t worry, the good kind).

  

• And then, the characters! Oh my ghoul, the characters…

One of my personal favorites? A skeleton in an inner tube just floating along like it’s the most normal thing in the world.

There’s also a vignette of chaos that includes:

• A ghost (because of course)

• A shark (uh-oh)

• And the cutest lobster ever with the most expressive bulging eyes you’ve ever stitched. He’s definitely not sure what he signed up for.

I know — this canvas has a lot going on. But that’s the beauty of a Mystery Class! With my custom stitch guide and our paced lessons, we tackle just the right amount each time. You’ll be surprised how much progress you can make when you break it down — and how fun it is to watch this haunted cruise ship come to life, and did I mention it glows in such a wonderfully spooky way?

Mystery Class News

Our current mystery class is Robotic Uprising by David Galchutt.  We are four classes in.  The fifth class has been moved to Sunday, July 6.  There will be a  sixth class!  Stay tuned for that date.  All classes are on zoom! We have canvases available.  I promise this is a fun stitch.  Here’s the link to join the Uprising.

Up next? Designed by Lane Tree and Lily (you know her from Queen’s Court, Best Friends, and Dancing Queens), this is her adorable Bunny Love canvas! It couldn’t be more different from our current class—tiny (6″ x 8″), handpainted on 18ct, with big blocks of color just begging for fabulous stitches and fun threads.
