That’s what technique classes are all about, dipping your toe in the water and trying new things. We started our current mystery class, Three Birds by Brooke Connor with the idea that it would be a class of fun and different techniques.
In the first lesson we experimented with goldwork, using different types of real metal threads and couching them to the canvas in different ways.
We used beautiful Pearl Purl from Access Commodities and fun metal threads originally designed for use on Saris.
If you would like to see a series of tutorials on how I work with Pearl Purl, click here.
Beads are always fun for me so I incorporated, regular beading, brick beading and a few new patterns of beads into our birdies.
Then we made fancy feathers of Twisted Lazy Daisy Stitches for their head feathers! Here’s another video! Who knows what I will put in the next lesson, more goldwork, more beads, something else? Time will tell.
For those of you signed up for this class, it is shipping in waves. Lesson one has rolled out to the earlier signups. We are waiting on canvases to arrive so that we can send more. Stay tuned, hopefully it won’t be too much longer. If you would like to sign up and have a complete kit sent to you at the end of our class, here’s the link.
Lesson Two of the Three Birds class will be in about two weeks.

If you are reading this post on the blog great! Make sure you are signed up for the mailing list so that you don’t miss anything Bedecked and Beadazzled. Did you know we are also on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube? Even more places to follow the fun. xo again.
So stunning! What’s your secret to getting your beads to stand up so perfectly? (like everything you stitch!)
Always keep tension on your beading thread. Needle up – keep tension on the thread, put on a bead – keep tension on the thread, needle down grab the thread under your canvas until you pull it up again. Never let go. LOL
What thread do you recommend for beading?
99% of the time I use beading thread in a matching color.
They are going to be the best dressed birds ever!
Stunning and I love your instructional videos. Watching them makes me think I could actually do this with your help!
You can do this! xo
Any chance of ever seeing the Santa Fe Felines again? It’s a bit hard waiting a year or son in between lessons.
The next lesson of Santa Fe Felines is in process. I anticipate this Fall. xo
This is magnificent!!!! Adore this! Thank you for the video too! That video went into another of yours for curved bullion – I feel like both this stitch (for the bird feather) and the curved bullion are going to sneak their way onto my current canvas. :-). Your instructions are the best – thank you for sharing…and LOVE LOVE LOVE what you are doing with this!
