We’re in the season of Thanksgiving and what better time to reflect on the friendships this art has brought us? I am very lucky to be able to do something I love and make a living from it. I am also very lucky to have found my tribe. I have a great group of customers and friends. Some I have known since the beginnings of my needlepoint journey when I opened the shop in 2007. A few go back to my online only beginnings from 2000-2007 and some are newer friends thanks to the magic of Zoom. You know you are loved right?
This weekend we hosted Kimberly teaching Fred the Dragon! Kimberly and I have been our own tribe since the 90’s! We go way back supporting each other. This weekend she was teaching on Zoom and we had a lovely group of ladies all over the country with us virtually. I also had a smaller group in person with me. We will host a repeat zoom only edition of Fred again in February.

Here’s the best part of the story. I walk into the Beehive and find a cat carrier on the counter. There’s Sue and Kathy urging me to open it quick! I of course thought there was a cat in that carrier and was very excited. We all miss Johnny, our staff cat, terribly. I’ve had two adoption failures trying to find his replacement. I have two more wonderful kitties at home, but no one to fill his little shoes at the Beehive.

I open the box and my two lego building friends had conspired to build Lego Johnny cats! They both bought the kits and were very excited to share their acquistion and brilliance with the other. OOOPS! They now had two kits. Sue assembled one. Kathy had her grandson, Logan build the other. Logan took his job very seriously, keeping a time sheet of his hours so that he could collect payment from Mimi. Kathy shipped her cat to Sue. Sue packed the pair in the pet carrier. (Gift wrapping brilliance at its finest.) And here I am with my pair of Johnny Cats. One for the hive and one for home. If you know me, the more the merrier and if one is good, two is better. This two ladies have outdone themselves in creativity for me. Kathy and Sue are the best of friends and I am very lucky to have them in my circle. (I missed the opportunity to get a photo of them together!)

The friendships and family extends across the country and outside of class. We all have very strong bonds and look forward to welcoming more of you to the party. Happy Thanksgiving month.
