A few weeks ago we had the second lesson of our Halloween Mystery Class. This year’s canvas is the Flying Witch by David Galchutt. She is so much fun!
The second class was totally different than the first. It was all artsy and freeform! You know I love that. More canvases are at the end of the year, click here to reserve one!
Let’s talk about background options. There are so many when you have a large open space. You can always fill with a stitch. You know I like open stitches. That would work great on this canvas, but I wanted a little more whimsy and I was obsessed with the painted bats, so bats a palooza it is! The bats are placed randomly at different angles. You can choose to trace the bats on with the aid of a water soluble marker, or you can stitch hem following the provided graph.
The stars and moons on her dress are string art.Stars are super easy to stitch. Remember how you learned to draw a 5 point star as a kid? It’s basically the same but with thread.
The trim on her skirt is the magic og gathered Painters Thread and a glorious row of beads.
Finally we trimmed her apron with a breezy open herringbone stitch. We’re moving right along! More fun coming soon.
I’m working on Let’s Fall in Love this week. Flowers are blooming!
