What a fun weekend we had. We invited Terry Dryden to teach her counted canvas project Tropical Jazz and it was a wonderful, relaxing class.
Fun stitches and great threads bring this design to life.
Terry traveled all day to bring her design to us and she still lots perky. 17 hours, I wouldn’t be this perky.
One of the wonderfully fun things that we did in the class was add color to our canvas with markers. Easy and fun way to add just a bit of color to a background. Build the color up in thin layers just like watercolors.
We all used the same colors and markers but everyone colors so differently.
And then we painted beads to be added to our canvases later. Beautiful metallic colors were added to resin beads.
Everyone worked hard in class. We were a quiet bunch stitching away, having a good time.
Terry brought extra threads. Threads this thread junkie hadn’t seen before. Oh no, gotta go rearrange the store to make room for new stuff. There were some very pretty threads.
And of course on the last day Terry signed our autograph board. A tradition for teachers the first time they come to visit.
Thanks again, Terry. We had a great time and look forward to seeing you again.
Very cool, I've seen her work! Beautiful! Look forward to hearing about the 'new' thread 🙂
Every time I have seen this piece, I fell in love with it. I'm sad that the timing didn't work for me to be there.
Now – the new threads: you Have to tell us more about those. The pictures look quite interesting, but we need to know more!
Love this piece and all the fun techniques. Thanks for enabling.
