What a weekend! This past weekend was Zecca Retreat 2020. We had to change our format and do it via Zoom. Yes, you are tired of me saying that, but we had fun! It was a great group of ladies. Some new to zoom and some who have been doing it since this began. We saw old friends and made new. Thank you everyone who attended.
Without further ado, allow me to introduce Wide Berth.
This is another of Karen’s super fun looooong canvases. Weighing in at 6″ x 24″ on 18ct, it’s big impact for truly not a lot of stitching.
He is a moose made for glamping. He has beaded antlers!! Gotta love beaded antlers.
And he really is all about the nose! His nose is big and I chose stitches to make it look even bigger. He’s confident in his nose size. We handled the shading on him in new and different ways that will add new skills to your stitching arsenal.
I designed a plaid stitch for his body and an even bigger bolder plaid for the background. He’s an outdoorsy kind of moose.
These are the yummy threads used in the design. I’m happy anytime I get to use Soie d’Alger 1033. I swear it glows, it’s so bright.
If you would like to pre-order Wide Berth for your stitching rotation, here’s the link.
Hope you have a happy week.

Love looking at your site but haven’t stepped into the water yet. Would love to see some completed pieces with all the bells and beads. Do you ever stitch in larger hole then 18 for us older gals
We post the finishes on our blog as soon as they are finished.
Go to http://www.notyourgrandmothersneedlepoint.com and click on Bedecked and Beadazzled Mysteries or Special Events under the header. Anything that is finished will show a finished photo there and then you can click through to see the process.
I’ve done a couple of 13ct Christmas pieces Reindeer Collage and the Partridge Stocking. Who knows what will be next. xo
These open stitches are great! Let’s the depth of the canvas come through!
