Lesson 3 of Robotic Uprising by David Galchutt has landed, and friends—it was electric.⚡️
We added all the bells, whistles, bolts, and almost-flashing lights to our red bot. He’s no longer just standing there looking smug—he’s practically ready to file his own TPS reports. The little details brought him to life in the best way. Mixed materials? You bet. Shiny bits and shadowy bolts? Absolutely. He’s officially complete(ish)… and officially fabulous.

But wait—we didn’t stop there.

Say hello to the blue bot!
This guy is totally different. He’s perched at an odd angle, which meant I had to break out the counted stitch sorcery. No cookie-cutter stitches here—we needed techniques that follow his wonky little posture and bring it to life. Think perspective. Think angles. Think, “Oh wow, that actually does look like he’s leaning!”

We also spent a little more time on the big background planet. It’s subtle, but those extra stitches are giving it the depth it deserves—it’s no longer just scenery, it’s setting the stage.
Lesson 4 is coming up on June 8th, and you’re not going to want to miss what’s next. (Spoiler: more found objects may be involved. Possibly some sparkle. Definitely some “Ooh, how’d she do that?” moments.)

Mystery Class News
Our current mystery class is Robotic Uprising by David Galchutt. The third class was Sunday. We have two more lessons planned for this class, June 8 and 29. All classes are on zoom! We have canvases available. I promise this will be a fun stitch. Here’s the link to join the Uprising.

Up next? Designed by Lane Tree and Lily (you know her from Queen’s Court, Best Friends, and Dancing Queens), this is her adorable Bunny Love canvas! It couldn’t be more different from our current class—tiny (6″ x 8″), handpainted on 18ct, with big blocks of color just begging for fabulous stitches and fun threads. If you’ve ever thought about joining a Mystery Class, this is your moment. We’ll stitch the bunny in two short Zoom sessions: July 20 and August 10, 1–3pm ET. Sign up here to reserve your spot.

Not to be left out, we have a fabulous Zecca canvas, Window of Opportunity starting as a mystery in May. This one won’t be on zoom — it’s a series of kits mailed straight to your door. Each panel of this triptych fits on 12×15 bars—easy to hold, but when framed? A total showstopper. Here’s the link for this one.

If you are reading this post on the blog great! Make sure you are signed up for the mailing list so that you don’t miss anything Bedecked and Beadazzled. Did you know we are also on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube? Even more places to follow the fun. xo again.

Ruth, that robot is just fabulous. I love your use of buttons, tubes, annular beads and, dare I say, “found items”. At least they look “found” and not carefully curated from a bead shop. I can’t wait to see what you do with the big red-orange button and gizmos on the blue-bot. I also love the laid filling stitch on the chest plate – it looks like a maze of electronic circuitry. I really admire your willingness to tackle a canvas with a very “not-your-grandmother’s-needlepoint subject.
TPS reports, huh?!? Love that!
Ruth, this canvas is so “not me.” It might be the most “not me” thing you’ve ever stitched. But that doesn’t stop it from being FANTASTIC! All those little details are just unbelievable, from the tubing to the buttons. I think my favorite part might be the blackwork-style pattern done diagonally on the blue bot.
I can’t wait to see what’s next!
It might not be a me canvas either but I wanted to stretch my wings and see what I could do. Let me say it is soooooo much fun!
