I’ve been thinking about collages lately. So what better time than now to start this great collage by ellen giggenbach, Fantail. This is our newest Mystery Class and with 5 lessons it will take us well into May to stitch. There’s lots of time to explore different areas.
The first area we stitched is the far right panel. It is a field of circles and gave me the opportunity to create a solid pattern of stitches. It has great depth and dimension.
The circles are filled with accentuate and surrounded with Jessicas! Lots and lots of Jessicas. They fit perfectly because I had the canvases painted to fit this exact pattern and size of Jessicas. Sometimes I know how I am going to stitch something way before it is even painted. I do love it when a plan works out.
Thanks to a little prodding from Sheena of Sheena’s Sweet Stitches I even made a video of how these Jessicas are worked. You can see it here.
To add a spark of color, some of the Jessicas are filled with beads. Life is better with beads. 🙂
Here it is. Fantail lesson one with lots of pretty Jessicas all in a row.
Wait until you see the swag that comes with this class. Of course there is the matching magnet. That’s not all, ellen g made beautiful thread bags that match the canvas perfectly. Swoon! They are the best.
Of course we have snap trays too if you would like to add one to your collection.
If you would like to join the fun of our latest mystery class, we have canvases in stock and can ship double quick. Here’s the link.

So attractive! It will be a little masochistic but worth the extra effort (and quicker than basket weave)
there’s only 95 jessicas. LOL
Love, I think we are cut from similar cloth ?
We are!
Can’t wait to get mine in the mail!
Can’t wait to get mine!
The video is really helpful. As you say, once you understand the logic, it’s all so much easier. Much less counting needed! Can’t wait to get the first lesson by mail!
Glad it helps. The more threads you thread under the more seamless the circle looks. It’s pretty cool.
Ooooh. Love this. I have used circles a lot in my living room so this will go in there once I’m done. Can’t wait to start on the Jessicas. They are a favorite along with the Queen stitch.
So now to find a place to use Queen Stitch! 🙂
I love queen stitch! I’ve never used it on canvas — just on linen, where you have to pull the stitches to get the shape; otherwise, as one of my teachers says, the stitch just looks like a squashed bug.
