Every artist has their own voice. A story to tell. A way of telling it.
Today we started a new mystery class, House Hunt courtesy of Tapestry Fair. They are now representing Pat Scheurich and interpreting her art into needlepoint! Pat is a mixed media artist who paints and collages on wood and metal with hints of metallic.
Hints of metallic? There’s a recipe for a canvas I will love to stitch. We know I love sparkly things and I love open canvas. That’s part of my story and my way of telling it.
The background of the canvas is beautiful diamonds awash with subtle nuances of color, shadow and shimmer.
We interpreted the background with a series of open patterns that mimic the background pattern allowing the shading to show through.
The threads are simple, one of my new Overdyed Floche colors that is perfect for this canvas and Kreinik Very Fine (#4) Braid in several shades. The Kreinik of course gives us the feel of the silver background from the original.
This is just the start, there’s lots more to come on this canvas. Flowers and birds, leaves and stems. The next lesson is in two weeks.
We have more canvases on order and expect them shortly. If you would like to join the fun of this mystery class, give us a call at 410.296.0405 or sign up online and we’ll send your kits as soon as possible.
