Okay, look at the needlepoint, really look at the needlepoint…. I do love it when everything comes together. The framing on the Watering Can lady is wonderful. It’s everything I had in my mind and more.
This was a mystery class that we ran several months ago at the shop — A Maggie canvas brought to life with stitches and thread choices from my crazy little head.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you can join us sometime. Mystery Classes are loads of fun.
I love the ideas that bounce around in your crazy little mind.
Does that make me crazy, too?
No! Neither of us is nuts. We just appreciate bringing canvases to life with a mix of threads, stitches and Other Things.
What this frame illustrates is a very key rule – the frame should not be what you see when you look at the piece, the piece should pip out. Too often folks put garish bright frames with multiple mats and the frame is the dominant color or feature and the piece is secondary. this dark wood blends away beautifully and the red bar around the piece acting as a mat pushes your work to the forefront and when you look at this the piece pops out in a burst and then you notice it is framed – PERFECTION! beautiful job and i must say the same is true for the pillow of the mask on Chilly Hollow that she just got back – the pillow is classical and understaed yet bold but allows the mask to roar out at us so perfectly. you two women are such idols of mine with your work and your ideas and i thank you both for blogging so we can learn from the ideas that bounce arodun in yoru heads. thank you.
and i will remember to use spell check next time I comment, sorry for the messed up spelling in the comment above….
You are a true artist. What a pleasure it is for me to see your work. I read about them all , and have very high hopes for the newest witch with the green face and dimpled chin. Oh, and by the way, I like the unique frame too.
Beautiful job of framing (and stitching of course). I may have to ask for this for Christmas…all of your mystery classes are wonderful and I'm looking forward to the next one!
