I keep telling you that my mind is a mysterious place. The ideas that crash through it are sometimes crazy. As I have been stitching the Nutcracker by Eleanor Grosch I have been determined to make it look like there was fairy dust coming from the Sugar Plum Fairy’s wand. I think I did it.
Sunday was the second lesson of this mystery class and the fairy dust was our focus. We stitched a few random diamonds in the background and then traced a swirly pattern on the canvas to stitch and create fairy dust!
I think it works. It definitely adds energy to the piece.
The sugar plum fairy’s dress is a brand new stitch that is super fun worked with two different threads.
The rat king and tree skirt are starting to come to life. I’m not sure I want the rat king to really come to life but you know what I mean. 🙂
All of the snowflakes in the sky will be beaded! You know I love that. I really love the star at the top of the tree. The addition of the Swarovski bicones really makes it shine.
In the first lesson we stitched the tree and I offered an option for those who want more coverage on their canvas than I need. 😉 Angie is stitching hers in the alternate stitch and it looks great. It’s equally fun. It does use more thread, so if you are thinking about stitching this option let me know and I will add additional tree thread to your final kit.
We’ll finish this up after Christmas. Clara will have her fancy dress and the nutcracker will shine. We have canvases ready to go if you want to join the holiday fun. Here’s the link. Or give us a call at 410.296.0405.
