If you know me, you know I typically stitch the backgrounds of my canvases first. I don’t particularly enjoy stitching patterned stitches through already stitched areas. Random backgrounds, they are an entirely different subject. Those I can stitch anytime.
Our current Mystery Class, Dragonflies by Helen Heins Peterson is no exception to my rule. It’s almost a kaleidoscope of color and pattern. The backgrounds are all the little bits of red and green in between the frogs and leaves and bugs.
Photos never do a piece justice. The background shimmers with light and sparkle.
The red areas are a three step stitch and on mine connect from area to area. The dark green areas are completely encrusted with hex beads so they too sparkle. You know I am a girl who loves her sparkle. There’s even a second optional step to the dark green areas for those who are up to the challenge. It’s worth the effort as it adds even more depth to the dark areas.
This is a Mystery Class so I have 4 lessons planned. Lesson two is next Sunday. We have canvases in stock ready to ship so if you would like to join the fun and stitch along on zoom or not, here’s the link. If you prefer a kit at the end of the class we can do that too. I have lots of crazy planned for this canvas. We just need to lay the groundwork first. 😉
Let’s Fall in Love is still in progress. Threads are starting to arrive. Don’t get too excited yet. It will still be awhile. It is coming and it’s epic.
