Spoiler Alert! I had a great time at the beehive with a group of wonderful stitchers. Our project was Pumpkin Village, a wonderful new canvas from Melissa Shirley Designs.
Five pumpkins, two sets of beautiful trees, countless cute accents, and a sparkling sky were brought to life with lots of silks, metallics, ribbons and a variety of beads.
Each pumpkin has its own unique stitch and thread combo. I had a blast integrating Swarovski round crystals, sequins, and hex beads into some of the pumpkins. I made sure to balance those with some fun metallics, such as Painters Threads and ThreadWorx metallics into other pumpkins.
Another fun technique was the awning for the center pumpkin.
I was thrilled that the trees were a big hit. I love how the Straw Silk adds the perfect color and texture to the trees.
Thanks to our friends the Marquis Sisters, we added a, shall we say lively, game night feature to the workshop. The first night was a semi-polite but nonetheless competitive few rounds of Qwixx, a fun dice game. The second night was a slow to start but quick to escalate Mexican Train Dominoes tourney. It was a great addition to an already fun weekend.
I always enjoy my time at the hive. Ruth (and Johnny) are wonderful hosts and make sure everything you may need is taken care of.
It was a weekend full of autumn colors…in April. If you would like your very own Pumpkin Village, the link is here. Look all these fun threads!
Thank you Mary, for a great class and blog post. We can’t wait to see you in July for embellishment class. We have a few spaces left if you sign up quick.

If you saved a kit for me, you can go ahead and send it. Thanks Ruth.
On it’s way!!! xo
I wish someone would offer an online class about all the new threads. In my town we only have DMC available. So I never order any of these beautiful threads as I would not know what or how much to order. So threads are confusing.
Thanks for the idea. I will put on my thinking cap about that. Until then have you seen our book Threads a Needle Necessity? It;s a great reference. xo
