The second lesson of our current mystery class, Johanna Virtanen’s Dog Ears is all about the flowers. Well the flowers and a few other bits.
This flower spoke to me. It wanted to be big and fluffy and fun. I listened. The petals are Twisted Lazy Daisy Stitches. The same effect could be achieved with Curved Bullion Stitches. The center is Turkey Work with Pepperpot Silk. That’s my new favorite thread for Turkey Work.
The flowers in front of him have lots of pattern and shading. I decided to let all of that show through with a light covering of sparkle. Sparkle is always good. Since this canvas is total fantasy, I didn’t worry about perspective. I just played.
You know if I can add a Crescent Stitch I’m a happy girl, so the moon is one big Crescent. Of course the dots in the lower border needed to be Jessicas. 😉
Bits and pieces were added to the lower border. there’s still more to come with one final lesson of this little guy.
We have more canvases due in a month or so. If you would like to join this adventure here’s the link. We will ship complete when canvases arrive.
We’re getting ready for Mary Legallet’s Embellishment class in a few weeks. We can’t wait to show you all the canvases that were selected. Some with new guides and some with existing guides. You know what that means, a blog a day. LOL. I go in spurts. It’s all or nothing.
