Woo Hoo! I made another video! Some techniques lend themselves to videos.
On the tree skirt of Eleanor Grosch’s Nutcracker I made a tiny twisted cord using the Corkscrew technique.
Here’s my how to video. Hope it helps.
Let me know what you think. My goal for this year is more videos. My goal is also to actually get the newsletters out on time but January didn’t happen so cross your fingers.

How did you determine the right length of the thread to allow for the twist? Double or triple the finished length?
I have the same question about length… you mentioned you made it exactly the correct length for the tree skirt; how did you determine that length?
It was a bit of trial and error. Ultimately mine was about 4 times the finished length which when doubled in the needle to make two meant two times the finished length.
Great idea! Thanks
The video is so helpful! Can’t wait to try it.
That’s the $20,000 question. I started with 4 times the finished length which when doubled in the needle meant 2 times the finished length. It depends upon your tension. It’s not scientific, but it’s a start.
Great video and stitch. And is that Johnny purring in the background? Love it!
Haha. It is! xo
I think it’s great to have goals, but we just love to get your updates! The Nutcracker is an amazing piece as was the film; hope you got to the theater to see the latest rendition!
Does it need to be couched to make a bend or half circle?
yes, in this case you need to couch the cord in place so it maintains the curve.
Thanks, I love it and the video is very helpful .
