This is a fun canvas by Share One’s Ideas that we are stitching in sections — Four lessons in all, at basically 2 week intervals. Some students will be joining us live in the shop and others will be outpatients as we call them – joining us virtually from the comfort of their own stitching chair. It’s fun either way.
Today’s lesson was all about the background. You know how much I love stitching backgrounds, NOT! So, we need to get that out of the way first. It’s also so much easier to count stitches over unstitched canvas another reason for doing it now.
I had a plan in my head; I wanted the background to have a pattern that changes depending upon the viewing angle. Don’t ask me why I wanted to do this, sometimes I just need to challenge myself. Thanks to the magic of stitches going in opposite directions it works!
Depending upon the viewing angle of the canvas either the vertical or the horizontal stitches come to the forefront. The vertical stitches are a very close match in color to the background canvas color so at first you wonder why you are even stitching it.
We also gave our stylish witch fishnet stockings! They aren’t complete yet but they already look very cool. The diamond pattern of the 4-Way Continental pattern mimics the diamonds in the background.
We meet again in two weeks so I have lots to plan and do before then.
If you would like to join us, you still can. However I am not expecting more canvases until late October so call to reserve one of those and you will just be joining us a little late. You have something else to stitch in the meantime, right?
