Time marches on and days blur together. Maybe they swirl together. In any case, I am late getting this blog post out. Last Sunday was our first lesson of our current mystery class Blissful Alignment by David Galchutt.
I am in love with this piece. So much life and detail. I can’t wait to see what I do next. LOL. I haven’t a clue where my muse will take me.
I knew when I started this piece that the face needed to be stitched differently than my other David Galchutt faces. With that in mind, I set out to create a blackwork pattern of interlocking swirls to cover the face. It’s a really fun stitch. Yes, you have to concentrate but it covers space quickly.
We added emphasis to the details on his face with long stitches and a few decorative stitches.
Finally the flames! The flames are simply Satin Stitch, large beautiful brush strokes of silk floss.
Of course I had to add some bling. It’a always more fun when we start with sparkle.
I have changed the date and time for the second lesson of this class. It will be August 2nd from 2pm to 4pm.
If you would like to sign up for all the fun and sparkle that is Blissful Alignment, click here. More canvases are due at the end of August.

Hey Lady!
The nose and cleft at the upper lift? Really great! The black work pattern worked out very well too! Plays nicely with the flames. Going to be fun to watch this one develop!
Thanks!

OMG! I’m not a participant but oh my, this is an awesome piece and I’m looking forward to seeing snippets of your progress along the way! I’ve been a slacker and am inspired to pull out an unfinished piece and get back to it, so thanx for the inspiration!
OOOH! Inspiration. Enjoy.

I will be eager to see how the swirls are stitched so that they wont zig and zag. Will you outline with stem stitches?
