Sunday was the third lesson of our White Cat Mystery Class by Johanna Virtanen and we’ve started growing flowers! Fleurs! Flores! Beautiful flowers.
We are using all sorts of wonderful threads and embellishments. Silk bouclé from the UK and gorgeous Treenway Zen Shin are a few of my favorites. The tiny pink petals are curved bullion stitches and I even made a how to video.
Several of the flowers use Crescent Stitches, so fun to do but not enough places to use them. LOL. My favorite is the one with the neon yellow pearls! Love them.
I also love the painterly effect achieved on the right side of the canvas with just a few, okay a lot, of Tent Stitches and Long Stitches. And you know how happy I was that I could use more dots! 🙂 I’m a simple girl.
Our cat now has whiskers too.
More flowers to follow in the final lesson.

I really enjoy your videos, Ruth.
Thank you.
“Breathe deep. Don’t panic.” That had me laughing out loud!!! I was getting jittery just watching the pull the needle through step – you make it look so easy breezy. Awesome tip re the needle too – I had no idea on that! I think I have always just used whatever needle I have around…which isn’t uniform in size. Terrific video and the cat looks WAY incredible! Love all of your little touches. Masterpiece!
Outstanding Ruth! Love the Bullion video, totally makes the piece even more special. Such a beautifully designed stitch guide?
Your videos are always so instructive – you have a wonderful way of ‘talking’ through the stitch or effect! Thank you for your posts!
