Take a walk on the wild side with me as we explore lesson #3 of the Blue Moon Mystery Class.

Today was the day, the big reveal of all my off beat ideas for this little guy’s body.

Before we start, let me show you something really cool.  When last we met I gave options for the background of Blue Moon.  One option required lots of compensating and concentration and is the option you will see in my piece.  Another option was a variation of the Batwing Stitch that requires much less compensation.

Here it is!  Betsey finished her background.  I love it.

Back to the project at hand, lesson number three.

This is just a clue of what’s to come in this lesson.  Can you guess what it is and what I’m up to?

I want our owl to have lots of character.  I showed it to Karen of Zecca fame as a sneak preview.  She said he looks bashful.  I love it.  It’s the perfect description of his charms.

I want Bashful and his dynamic presence to really grab you.  He’s so cute.  How can you resist him?

His eyes glow in the dark and we have awesome button centers for his eyes.  Sooooo cute.  Hoot Hoot!

His body is all ribbon.  I’m sure you all saw that coming. I like mixing textures.  Some ribbon, some laid stitches, some beads, some surprises!

The surprise this week is that I used Turkey work for his face.  It’s plush and it frames his eyes.  I still plan on trimming it more but this is a start.

Just for a giggle, here he is before his first haircut.

This isn’t the obvious choice for a owl face but I think he’s cute and sort of well, bashful.
