Or is it Meep Meep? Either way it’s a darn cute bird!
Based on the art of Dominic Bourbeau, Beep Beep from Tapestry Fair is our current mystery class! It’s a super fun and colorful stitch. Oh so many colors. I’ve been stitching a lot of orange lately so it’s nice to have the whole crayon box again.
Dominic’s Mid Century Modern style is a favorite of mine. It’s bold and graphic and inviting to stitch. The most important thing when designing stitches for this canvas is that we honor the style of the art with the stitches. They too need to be bold and graphic.
This little bird is running fast. Look at all those staccato lines of color that form his feathers. Our stitches need to mirror that shape and movement.
You know me, I typically stitch the background first and build toward the foreground. If I deviate from that plan you can bet there’s a face involved. We need to stitch the face and define the character. We need to get that part right before we move on. The eye is beaded and the beak is a big bold Crescent Stitch.
I love Crescent Stitches. They are quick and fun to stitch. Once you learn how to work them, you don’t need them to be charted! Woo Hoo! To prove how cool and easy they are, I made a video! It’s a long one, I stitched the whole beak. LOL.
Here’s the video. Hope it helps and you stitch swirls and curls and curves everywhere!
